Two to four implants per jaw give a denture something to hold onto. It stops moving when you eat and talk, and the bone underneath keeps being loaded rather than shrinking away.
The commonest complaint about a lower denture is that it lifts when you eat. Clipped onto implants, it does not.
Most patients stop using it entirely, which is usually the first thing they mention afterwards.
Implants load the ridge. That is why a denture fitted ten years ago no longer fits and a new one will not fit for long either.
You take it out to clean it, and it clips back onto the implants. Fewer implants needed, lower cost, easier to clean.

Yes. An upper denture has a palate to grip; a lower one sits on a narrow ridge with a tongue underneath it. That is why lower dentures are where implants make the biggest difference.
