Garden City Dental Group, Suite 225 at 901 Stewart Avenue, Garden City, New York.

The dentist your family has kept coming back to for seventy years.

Dr. Pelloni opened this practice on one rule: treat every patient like a member of your own family. Three doctors later, it is still how a visit here works.

Most people arrive here because somebody in their family already comes. A mother, a grandfather, a neighbour two doors down. Seventy years of that is not a marketing line. It is the only reason a dental practice lasts this long.

The question is rarely whether a treatment can be done. It is whether you will still be glad about it in twenty years.

How this practice works

Three things we will not trade away.

None of them are equipment. Any practice can buy a scanner. These are the parts that took seventy years to build.

Comfort-first care at Garden City Dental Group.
01

Comfort comes before the dentistry

The problem: people who have not seen a dentist in years, because the last time went badly.

Dr. Lizzio has spent her career treating adults with severe dental anxiety. Nitrous oxide, oral sedation and a pace you set. Tell us when you book, and the first appointment is an examination and a conversation, nothing else.

02

Holistic wherever holistic works

The problem: a mouth treated as if it were not attached to the rest of you.

Gum health, sleep, nutrition and material choice all get weighed. Where there is a biocompatible route to the same result, we take it, and where there is not, we say so rather than sell you the idea.

03

The same faces, year after year

The problem: a different hygienist and a different plan every time you visit.

Stacey has cleaned teeth here since 2000. Holli has close to forty years in hygiene. Christine has run the front desk since 2015. Continuity is not sentiment, it is the reason small changes in your mouth get noticed early.

Meet your dentist

Dr. Dominique C. Lizzio, DDS

She has lived in Garden City since 2004 and treated its residents for over twenty-five years, to one working rule: nobody should be frightened of their own dentist. Everything below follows from that.

  • Severe dental anxietyExtensive experience with adults who have avoided dental care for years. It is the reason many patients find this practice at all.
  • Long Island Doctor of DistinctionNominated by the physicians and dentists of the area, for standards in her field.
  • Cosmetic, restorative and implant dentistryMount Sinai residency, then an attending dentist there for many years.
  • Holistic alternatives wherever they existOral health read as part of general health, including work with patients who have sleep disorders.

Three doctors. One set of notes.

You will usually see the same dentist each visit, but the three of them share one record and one plan for you, so a question asked on a Tuesday does not need asking again on a Saturday. Between them: two hospital implant fellowships, a Columbia mathematics degree and an NYU master's in biology.

And the eleven people you will actually see most.

Hygienists, assistants and the front desk. Several of them have been here longer than some of our patients have been alive.

Dentistry in Garden City, NY

Everything a family needs, in one suite.

New patients, and emergencies

Saturday mornings, and a slot kept back for pain.

We are open until 8:00 pm on Tuesday and from 8:00 am on Saturday, which for most working families is the only appointment that is not a negotiation with an employer. If something has broken or hurts, call rather than book online and we will find you a time.

  1. A full examination, and only the X-rays that change the plan
  2. Gum and bite assessment, with a digital scan to compare against next year
  3. A written plan, with the cost of each part of it
  4. A plain answer on what is urgent, what can wait, and what can be left alone

Common questions

What people ask before they book.

Do you take my insurance?

We are in network with most major PPO plans and we file the claim for you. Because plans differ even within one carrier, the honest answer needs your specific policy. Call the office with your card and we will check it before you book.

I have not been to a dentist in years. Is that a problem?

It is one of the most common reasons people come here, and it is the reason Dr. Lizzio built the practice the way she did. Tell us when you call. The first visit is an examination and a conversation, not a lecture and not treatment.

What happens at a first appointment?

A full examination, any X-rays that are actually needed, a look at your gums, and a written plan with what it costs. Cleaning is usually the same visit. Allow about an hour.

How much do dental implants cost?

It depends on how many teeth, the state of the bone and whether a graft is needed, so a number before an examination would be a guess. We quote in writing after the consultation, and we can spread payment.

Can I be seen on a Saturday?

Yes. We are open Saturday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, which for a lot of families is the only appointment that works.
